Pelletier Commits to Albertus Magnus

By Neil Ravin - Director of Communications 03/19/2019, 10:00am EDT

EHLP Alumnus Set to Join Falcons this Fall

WARMINSTER, PA -- Alex Pelletier, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Revolution, has committed to Albertus Magnus College for the fall of 2019. The '98 native of Lititz, PA just finished a three-year junior career with the Revolution, that started out at the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) level back in the 2016-17 season. Pelletier won a championship that season with Philadelphia, and then put together a pair of solid years (2017-18 and 2018-19) at the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) level.

“Pelletier is the ultimate competitor," said Revolution head coach Jon Rogger. "He just wants to win. I rarely had to worry when he was on the ice. He plays an honest game and plays the right way.”

Pelletier is now set to join a new program at Albertus Magnus, that has already committed 10 EHL players so far this season. The big defenseman is excited to be joining this class, and took some time to reflect.

"It was a long road to get to this point and there were some challenging times. I can’t thank my teammates and coaching staff enough," said Pelletier. "They stuck by me in tough times and supported me throughout my time at the Revolution. It truly is a family.”

Pelletier went on to discuss his decision to join the Falcons in their inaugural season.

“I really felt welcomed by the coaching staff and it is a beautiful campus," added Pelletier. "I was excited for the possibilities of coming to a brand new NCAA program. My mom tries to be at all the games, and that support was above and beyond. The Pulleys are great. They consider the players as part of their family. They want us to succeed. We were always treated well and with respect. They also held us accountable and helped teach us some valuable life lessons."

Dunning Commits to Neumann

By Neil Ravin - Director of Communications 03/18/2019, 12:00pm EDT

EHLP Alumnus Set to Join Knights this Fall

ASTON, PA -- Nate Dunning, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Little Flyers, has committed to Neumann University for the fall of 2019. The '98 native of Morton, PA spent this past season with the Little Flyers at the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) level, before making the jump to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) this year.

"Nate is a perfect story for all of the kids that come into the EHL Premier locker room from AA hockey, work hard at the Premier level, and then make the EHL team," said Little Flyers head coach and general manager Mark Catron. "Dunning didn't only make the jump, but he is thriving as one of our top defenseman, not only offensively on the power-play, but defensively as well. Nate skates the puck up the ice very effectively, he’s a local kid who had an avenue in front of him on how to get to college from AA hockey, right inside the same rink he’s grown up in and will continue to play here at IceWorks for Neumann and Coach Mountain. Mike [Narrigan] and I are proud of Nate and look forward to being able to watch him play in college."

As Catron mentioned, the local kid is staying close to home, as the Knights play all of their home games at IceWorks Skating Complex, the same rink as the Little Flyers.

Looking back at Dunning's numbers from his junior career, and the veteran defenseman started things off with 26 points in 32 games in the EHLP (2017-18). Those numbers have improved up to 28 points in 44 EHL games so far this year. Overall, Dunning is very proud of his time with the Little Flyers, and he took a moment to share his appreciation.

"I am very proud to announce my commitment to play my college hockey at Neumann University and continue my education," said Dunning. "I want to start by thanking my family for their endless support throughout my hockey career. I want to thank coaches Mark Catron, Mike Narrigan, and George Lewis for giving me the opportunity to play juniors for the Little Flyers and the Giacobbo family. Also, thank you Stephane Charbonneau and Mike Cassidy for everything that they have done for me. Finally, thank you to Coach Mountain for giving me the opportunity to pursue my academic and athletic careers at Neumann."

Dunning and the Little Flyers just knocked off the Philadelphia Revolution on Thursday, and thus earned their second consecutive trip to the EHL Frozen Finals.

Rangers and Wolves Begin Series Tonight at 7:30pm

TEWKSBURY, MA -- We're down to just the final four teams in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), and the New England Conference matchup between the Boston Jr. Rangers and the New England Wolves is set to begin tonight at 7:30pm.

During the regular season, these two teams faced-off a total of the seven times:

Similar to the Mid-Atlantic Conference Finals between the Philadelphia Little Flyers and the New Jersey 87s, every matchup in the regular season was tight.

As for the Little Flyers and 87s, they split games #1 and #2 of their series, and are heading back to New Jersey for a decisive game #3 on Sunday night.

Coming back to the Rangers-Wolves series, and each team took care of business in the Second Round by completing sweeps of their respective opponents. The Rangers handled the Vermont Lumberjacks with victories by the scores of 5-1 and 7-0. As for the Wolves, they beat the Connecticut Chiefs by the score of 4-2 in each game.

Ahead of game #1 tonight, we are going to highlight one player from each team to watch in the New England Conference Finals.

Bobby McCloskey is the anchor in goal for the Rangers this season, and he was between the pipes for each Second Round victory over the Lumberjacks. In total, the 2000-born netminder turned aside 47 of the 48 total shots that were sent his way. Looking back to the Regular Season, and McCloskey posted some of the best numbers in the league. The 6'5 netminder owned an overall record of 19-2-2, to go along with 2.10 GAA, a .930 save percentage, and 3 shutouts. McCloskey is a candidate for this year's Goaltender of the Year award in the EHLP.

As for the Wolves, their player to watch is nominated for both the MVP and the Defenseman of the Year awards in the EHLP. Jack Johansen tallied four points in the series with the Chiefs (three goals, one assist), including the game-winner in game #2. During the regular season, Johansen turned heads across the league, tallying 53 points (19 goals, 34 assists) in 35 total games. The big, smooth-skating defenseman makes his presence felt on each and every shift that he takes.

Below you'll find the schedule for the three-game series, and be sure to watch each game live on HockeyTV.

Little Flyers and 87s Begin Series Tonight at 7:45pm

ASTON, PA -- We're down to just the final four teams in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), and the Mid-Atlantic Conference matchup between the Philadelphia Little Flyers and the New Jersey 87s is set to begin tonight at 7:45pm.

During the regular season, these two teams faced-off a total of the six times:

As you can see, every matchup was tight, with four games being decided by just a single goal, and only one game stretching further than a two-goal margin.

Each team took care of business in the Second Round, by completing sweeps of their respective opponents. It's safe to say that the 87s won a more high-scoring series, while the Little Flyers advanced in more of a defensive showdown.

Ahead of game #1 tonight, we are going to highlight one player from each team to watch in the Mid-Atlantic Conference Finals.

Graham Burke is the anchor between the pipes for the Little Flyers, and he proved that with the 73 total saves he made in the First Round against the New Jersey Renegades. The '01 native of Baton Rouge, LA is a candidate for this year's Goaltender of the Year award in the EHLP, and he's a big season why Philadelphia won by scores of 3-1 and 2-1 in the First Round. In the Regular season, Burke compiled an overall record of 20-5-2 to go along with a 2.40 GAA, a .921 save percentage, and 3 shutouts.

As for the 87s, their player to watch is Tom Swartwout. In the First Round matchup against the Philadelphia Revolution, the '01 native of Brick, NJ scored a pair of goals in game #1 and then tallied a hat-trick in game #2. Overall, Swartwout has 37 goals and 21 assists in 43 total games to date, and that includes 10 goals in his last five contests.

Below you'll find the schedule for the three-game series, and be sure to watch each game live on HockeyTV.
