BOSTON, MA -- We've reached the final week of the regular season in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP). With 13 games still remaining, almost all of the playoff spots have been clinched, as well as the final seeds for each postseason team.
The EHLP is pleased to announce that Adam Marvin (New Jersey Renegades), Josh Barton (Boston Jr. Rangers), and AJ Colella (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.
The final set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, March 5th. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.
Marvin and Renegades swept their three-game series with the Central Penn Panthers and moved into 4th place in the Mid-Atlantic Conference.
As for the '98 native of New City, NY, Marvin scored nine goals in the three games, and added four assists as well. For the season, Marvin now has 35 points in 12 total games, after joining the Renegades in late January.
All indications point towards a probable upcoming Renegades-Panthers matchup in the First Round of the EHLP Playoffs.
Barton and the Rangers hit the ice for just a single game this past week, as they completed the regular season sweep of the Valley Jr. Warriors.
As for the '99 native of Derry, NH, Barton scored a pair of goals and added a pair of assists in the contest. For the season, Barton now has 32 points (5 goals, 27 assists) in 39 total games to date.
Looking ahead, the defending champs will draw either the Vermont Lumberjacks or the Walpole Express in the Second Round of the postseason.
Colella and the Jr. Flyers split their pair of games this past weekend, and the '99 native of West Deptford, PA was simply phenomenal against the New Jersey 87s on Saturday.
In a 5-1 victory, Colella turned aside 60 of the 61 shots sent his way in a total 'stand on your head' performance from the netminder.
Looking ahead, the Jr. Flyers still have a chance at squeezing their way into the postseason, but they will need to sweep the Central Penn Panthers on the road this upcoming weekend. Along with the pair of victories, they will also need some help from the Renegades who face-off with the Panthers on Friday night, before the two-game weekend series kicks-off in Lancaster, PA.
This week's first Honorable Mention goes out to Curtis Briggs of the Connecticut Chiefs, who picked up his 12th and 13th wins of the season this past weekend, each of which came over the Vermont Lumberjacks. The Chiefs have now surpassed the Lumberjacks and officially locked up a Second Round matchup with the New England Wolves.
Speaking of the New England Wolves, Jonah Pickens helped pace his team's offense this past weekend, with a pair of goals and four assists in a two-game sweep of the Walpole Express. Looking ahead to the playoff series with the Chiefs, the Wolves owned a 5-1-0 record over their conference opponent during the regular season.
