BOSTON, MA -- Another week gone by, with a few upsets and a couple teams officially clinching their playoff spots across the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).
The EHLP is pleased to announce that Matt Meli (Philadelphia Revolution), Matt Sartorelli (Valley Jr. Warriors), and Sal Paci (Valley Jr. Warriors) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.
This upcoming weekend features 12 more games across the EHLP, including action on President's Day (Monday, February 18th). The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, February 19th. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.
Meli and the Revolution swept their home-and-home series with the New Jersey Renegades, and snapped their mini two-game losing streak. With the pair of victories, Philadelphia maintains their grip on the #2 seed Mid-Atlantic Conference.
As for Meli, the '02 native of Richboro, PA tallied four points over the weekend (three goals, one assist), including the game-winning tally on Sunday. For the season, Meli now has 23 goals and 21 assists through 36 total games to date. Looking ahead, the Revolution have just five regular season games remaining, with only one matchup at home. Also included in the final stretch are three more battles with the 1st-place Philadelphia Little Flyers.
Sartorelli and the Warriors swept their three-game series with the Vermont Lumberjacks, and gained some significant ground in the New England Conference standings.
As for the '01 native of Haverhill, MA, Sartorelli scored three goals over the weekend, and added an assist as well. For the season Sartorelli now has five goals and eight assists, through 34 total games. He'll look to build off of the momentum and keep his team's playoff hopes alive with matchups this week against the Walpole Express and the Connecticut Chiefs.
While Sartorelli held things down on the blue line, Paci was an anchor between the pipes. The 2000-born native of Boxford, MA was in net for the first two victories of the weekend, making a combined 69 total saves. The pair of wins were Paci's 4th and 5th victories of the season, as the young netminder has shown great improvement when compared to this past year. Looking ahead, Paci will need to continue to lead his team with just five games left in the regular season.
This week, the EHLP would like to recognize a couple other netminders with a pair of Honorable Mentions. We'll start with Paci's teammate, Skyler Coard, who was between the pipes for the third and final victory of the weekend for the Warriors. Coard was excellent in the weekend finale, turning aside 45 of the 46 shots that were sent his way by the Lumberjacks.
