BOSTON, MA -- The 2018-19 season kept chugging along this past weekend, with 11 of the 12 Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) teams in action. There are only 13 games left before the teams head home for the holiday break, so the next couple weeks are very important for every team across the league.
The EHLP is pleased to announce that Brad Heuer (New Jersey 87s), Michael Kubachka (Philadelphia Revolution), and Cam Libby (Boston Jr. Rangers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.
The second to last weekend of the first half features at least 1 game per day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The schedule includes 9 intriguing matchups, and the next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, December 17th. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.
Heuer and the 87s won all 3 of their games this past week, improving their record up to 18-8-1 for the season. New Jersey's 37 points also moves them into 1st place in the Mid-Atlantic Conference. As for Heuer, the '99 from Belford, NJ scored a pair of goals in all 3 games this past week. Heuer is now riding a streak with 2 goals in each of his last 4 games, and 5 of his last 7. For the season, the talented scorer has notched 21 goals and 12 assists through 21 games. Heuer has already surpassed his totals from this past year, when he tallied 24 points in 31 games. Looking ahead, Heuer and the 87s wrap-up their first half with a home-and-home series this weekend against the Central Penn Panthers, and then a matchup on Tuesday night against the New Jersey Renegades.
Sticking with the Mid-Atlantic, Kubachka and the Revolution won their only game of the weekend, a 4-3 victory over the Central Penn Panthers on Saturday. The '01 native of Downingtown, PA had a goal and an assist in the contest, running his season total up to 20 points (11 goals, 9 assists) in 21 games. Kubachka has played very well against the conference-rival Panthers, having tallied 5 goals and 5 assists in 5 matchups to date. Looking ahead, the Revolution are off this upcoming weekend, and then will take on the Philadelphia Little Flyers in a home-and-home series on December 22nd and 23rd.
Wrapping things up between the pipes, Libby and the Rangers got back on track this week, with wins in all 3 of their games. The 2000-born netminder was between the pipes for his team's victories over the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (Saturday) and Philadelphia Little Flyers (Sunday). For the season, Libby is now a perfect 9-0-0, and he owns a 1.48 GAA and .932 save percentage. Ever since giving up 4 goals to the New England Wolves back on November 4th, Libby has turned aside 92 of the 98 shots that have been sent his way. In nearly 300 minutes between the pipes, Libby has managed to keep lowering his goals against average with a 1.20 mark during that time. Now back at the top of the #Eshow Power Rankings, the Rangers head into the holiday break riding high with the best record in the league (23-3-2).
While Libby stood his ground in net, Tanner Caldarola continued to rack up points in his first season in the EHLP. In the trio of victories, Caldarola scored 4 times and dished out a pair of assists. For the year, the '99 native of Colorado has 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists) in 24 games.
