BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) just finished off another busy weekend, as 11 of the 12 teams took to the ice. Through a number of solid matchups, there were many top performances turned in across the league.
The EHLP is pleased to announce that Connor Cameron (Vermont Lumberjacks), Maverik Skeans (New England Wolves), and Bobby McCloskey (Boston Jr. Rangers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.
The EHLP schedule includes 10 more games this upcoming weekend, in the final set of action before the first showcase of the season. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, October 1st at 4:00pm. Catch the EHLP action all season long on HockeyTV.
Cameron and the Lumberjacks swept their three-game set with the Valley Jr. Warriors, as the '99 racked up 6 goals and an assist to his name over the weekend. Back for his 2nd season with the Lumberjacks at the EHLP level, Cameron is looking to build off of the 2017-18 season in which he tallied 25 points in 45 total games. So far this year, Cameron has 8 points through Vermont's first 4 games, and he'll look to keep things rolling when the Lumberjacks host the Central Penn Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
Make it back-to-back weeks for the Wolves, as Skeans joins Jack Johansen on the list of top defensemen so far this season. After going a perfect 3-0-0 over the opening weekend, the Wolves stretched their unbeaten streak up to 5 games with a two-game sweep of the New Jersey Renegades. The 2000-born native of Newfoundland had a goal and 4 assists in the Wolves 11-2 victory on Friday, and then added another goal and assist to his totals during the 6-0 win on Saturday. Skeans and the Wolves are now lined up for their biggest game of the season so far, as they will host the Boston Jr. Rangers on Sunday at 3:40pm.
Speaking of weekend sweeps, McCloskey and the Rangers completed one of their own, knocking off the New Jersey 87s by scores of 2-0 and 8-2. The 2000-born netminder was between the pipes for the team's shutout win on Saturday, as he turned aside all 39 shots that were sent his way. The Rangers look to be strong yet again this season, as they seek to defend their 2017-18 EHLP Championship. McCloskey and the Rangers are now set for a three-game weekend with games against the Walpole Express (Friday), the Valley Jr. Warriors (Saturday), and the New England Wolves (Sunday).
