BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) finished off the second showcase of the season this past weekend at the Breakaway Ice Center. With all 13 teams hitting the ice there were plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.
The week ahead includes 12 total games starting tonight and running through Sunday. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, November 20th at 10:00am. Catch the EHLP action all season long on HockeyTV.
Amelio and the Lumberjacks won both their games at the showcase this past weekend. On Sunday, Amelio led the way with a hat-trick and five total points in the Lumberjacks 6-1 win over the New York Applecore. The '97 forward added another goal on day #2 of the showcase against the Philadelphia Revolution, to help the Lumberjacks to a 5-2 victory. With the six total points at the Tewksbury showcase, Amelio has now racked up 10 total points with seven goals in showcase play so far this season. After this weekend, Amelio now also owns 22 total points for the season and leads the Lumberjacks with 15 goals. Up ahead for the 1st place Lumberjacks are a pair of games against the Valley Jr. Warriors this weekend.
Ukhymylov and the 87’s beat the New Jersey Renegades on Tuesday and then went on to split their two games at the Tewksbury showcase. Against the Renegades, Ukhmylov picked up a power-play goal in the 87’s 2-0 shutout victory. The defensemen continued to show off his offensive skills at the showcase, scoring a pair of goals including the overtime winner against the Valley Jr. Warriors on Sunday. The '99 defensemen just joined the 87s officially ten days ago, and has already made a strong impression on the EHLP. The week ahead for the 87s includes a matchup at home against the Jersey Wildcats tonight, followed by two road games on the weekend against the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Saturday and a rematch with the Renegades on Sunday.
Carbo picked up a win in his only game of the week, as he stopped 25 out of the 27 shots he faced in a huge 5-2 victory against the Philadelphia Revolution. With the win, the '99 netminder is now 9-1-0 for the season with a stellar 2.02 GAA and a .934 save percentage. Carbo previously won TSR Hockey Goalie of the Month honors in September, and already has one set of EHLP weekly honors to his name as well (TSR Hockey Stars of the Week #3).
The EHLP would also like to recognize an honorable mention this week, which goes to Tyler Murray of the Vermont Lumberjacks. Murray racked up four goals at the showcase this past weekend, including the game-winning goals in both the Lumberjacks' victories. The '01 forward now has ten points on the year, with seven goals and three assists to his name.
