BOSTON, MA -- Fresh of the first showcase of the season, this past week featured 11 Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) teams in action. The slate of games brought with it plenty of worthy candidates for this week's awards.
The EHLP is pleased to announce that Dave Tremblay (Central Penn Panthers), Justin Brown (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), and John Profaci (Jersey Wildcats) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.
The week ahead includes 10 more games on the EHLP schedule through Sunday. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, October 31st at 10:00am. Catch the EHLP action all season long on HockeyTV.
Tremblay and the Panthers picked up their 1st win of the season this past weekend, beating the New York Applecore by a score of 5-2 on Saturday. The 2000 forward racked up 4 goals in the victory. Tremblay has gotten off to a hot start this season, with 16 goals and 3 assists in the first 14 games. Up next for the Panthers is a road matchup against the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Sunday.
Brown and the 1st place Jr. Flyers had a pair of wins this weekend against the New Jersey Renegades, improving their record up to 11-0-1 for the season. The 2000, picked up a pair of assists in both of the victories. Brown now leads his team in the assist category with 10 on the year and 12 total points. Up next for the defensemen and the Jr. Flyers is a home-and-home series this weekend against the Jersey Wildcats.
Profaci and the Wildcats went on the road for a pair of games this past weekend against the New England Wolves. They lost the first game by a score of 6-2, and looked to bounce back the very next day with Profaci between the pipes. The '01 netminder would go on to make 48 saves in a 5-1 victory, which gave the Wildcats their 4th win of the season. In 9 appearances this year, Profaci now owns a record of 3-3-0 to go along with a 3.48 GAA and a .923 save percentage. Ahead for Profaci and the Wildcats is a big home-and-home series with the 1st place Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.
This week the EHLP would like to recognize a trio of honorable mentions, starting with Prestyn Hoefler of the New England Wolves. Hoefler had a hat-trick against the Walpole Express in their 8-2 win this past Wednesday. He finished the week with 4 points which brought his season total up to 18, which is tied with Byrce Ricker for the team lead. Speaking of Ricker, he also put together an impressive week with 6 points in 4 total games.
Our 3rd and final Honorable Mention goes out to Mike Meredith of the Walpole Express. The '99 forward led his team with 4 goals in a 9-3 win over the Valley Jr. Warriors. Meredith has 9 total points this season, with 7 of those falling under the goal category.
